A newbie here, and looking to see if my truck is normal or not (before I ask the dealer)...

I listen to a Sirius aftermarket unit almost exclusively, and every time I turn on the car the stupid radio either goes to CD or radio! Since the aux in is a little lower volume than the rest, I get BLASTED every time I turn on the stupid thing! [:@] Does anyone else have this problem, or is my radio jacked up?

BTW, I love my truck so far (only 1300mi), but this is REALLY annoying. And no, I don't want to replace the HU for aftermarket, I like the look of all stock...

 

Mine dont do that everytime I start it it is still on the satalite

 

Do you have the factory sattelite or aftermarket? I'm using one of those plug & play docking station setups.

It's strange, because it usually goes to radio but sometimes it chooses the CD instead (there's always a CD there)

 

I have the factory satalite radio.

 

I have the XM SKYFi2 which I installed, and so long as the unit is attached and on, when I turn on the truck, it goes straight to the XM unit.

Is the unit always attached and 'on', or do you take it on and off?

 

When using the XM with the AUX It goes to the FM side when I start it. Mine is the Ram, but its all the same.

 

I just got an MP3 player...and I use the AUX jack to connect it to my radio. It does the same thing. If my MP3 player is off, it defaults back to radio and I get blasted. I have the run the MP3 player at full volume too.

I'm guessing that's what it's supposed to do.

 

Is your unit turned on BEFORE you turn on the truck, or after?

I have mine connected all the time, but it's plugged into the switched outlet in the IP, so it powers on & off with the truck.


I am sad to see that this radio is designed so stupid. Anyone know why Chrysler would set it so it won't stay on the aux-in, even when nothing's connected? Could their be some risk of shock to you or the radio if you plugged something in while the car was on and the input was selected to aux? We had a Pacifica with the same problem, but I was hoping is was just due to the rear DVD setup.

Hmmm, I may have to look to see if there's an aftermarket input that mimics a changer in order to stop this annoyance...
