HID lights...
Sorry to start this post but I am close to ordering a HID kit for my DAK, but wanted to see if anyone else HAS THEM ON YOUR TRUCK. Please post pics and kits used. Hopefully they wont be to be to hot and melt the plastic!
From what I remember, HID's are actually cooler, and less wattage, but produce brighter light due to the type of gas, and the use of the ballast. I don't remember exactly, I looked into it a few years ago on my old Neon, never pursued it though.
Good luck
Good luck
HIDs run way cooler, the control ballasts may get hot but those will be mounted on the frame. A HID bulb produces much more light output and brightness with lower wattage. The stock bulbs in our Daks are I believe 65w, and the HID kits I've seen for H13/9008 conversion are 35w, so there's less power consumption. I plan on buying one in the next 2 weeks myself. If you're patient I'll post pics when I get them on before you buy. IF you want to go ahead and get a kit, I recommend not getting a cheapy kit off of eBay, I have bought many things on eBay but this I won't be doing it, get one from an actual automotive customizing site.

They do need a ballast to convert our standard 55 watts to 35 watts, also they need it to fire the electrons in a certian pattern & they do burn hotter try like 8K-10,000K vs our's @ 3-4K the heat makes them turn colors the higher the temp the more purple it gets, these lil guys crank out 225,000 candle power vs our standard 65,000 candle power.
I found them for 350 for a set I would like to get them but.
