RE: aren't dakotas slower than dirt?
i dont know about you guys but i think overall considering it is a 2 ton truck ithauls. mine isnt stock antmore but i can pretty much keep with mustang gts old and new. as for piece of **** imports i havent found one yt that can take me off the line and i can still move more than a bag or two. true some ricers beat me in the top end but light to light where i drive not many cars will beat us. all i have done is k/n cai/rai, 206 cam, 180 thermo, custom exhaust, jet stage 2 and pcm reflash. rev limiter and top speed limiter have also been removed. but to me for a truck none except srt 10 and lightning is fasterand we cost about 20 thousand less

not trying to knock you grizzle, but didn't somebody bring this up before, said they contacted Hypertech and was told no they didn't even though some retailers were claiming to have one,It would be great if they came out with it,maybe somebody needs to call Hypertech again and get the poop,I think some of the retailers figure if they work on the earlier Dak 4.7 they'll work with ours, lets hope it's for real this time.,,,,,,,,,,I just checked Hypertech's site they don't show anything for the 05 Dak.

i dont get what you guys are expecting...
its a truck...its not like its going to jump off the line
its 4200 pds...not a car that weights 2K
its ment to haul dirt and bricks...not groceries
its not going to beat a mustang at the track [sm=bangbang.gif]

4200 lbs is not bad at all, my 93 firehawk has a weight of 4086 GVWR and does 0-60 in 4.9 and runs low 13's and everything is stock.....in my eyes a 4200 lb truck is not heavy at all
oh and my gvwr weight was rated by SLP right before it left their factory as a firehawk to be delivered to a dealership
although the curb weight is 3476
What is the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)?
Simply put, it's how much weight your vehicle is designed to carry. The GVWR includes the net weight of the vehicle, plus the weight of passengers, fuel, cargo and any accessories added to the vehicle after purchase. The GVWR is a safety standard used to prevent overloading.
What is Curb Weight
Curb (kerb) weight is the total weight of an automobile with standard equipment, motor oil, coolant, a full tank of fuel and not loaded with either passengers or cargo.
This definition may differ from definitions used by governmental regulatory agencies.
Additionally, organizations may define curb weight with fixed levels of fuel and other variables to equalize the value for the comparison of different vehicles.
It is generally provided as a statistic about automobile weights, along with gross weight and gross vehicle weight rating, which represents the weight of an automobile when fully loaded. The difference between gross weight and curb weight is the total passenger and cargo weight capacity of the vehicle.
Note that curb weight is different from dry weight.
