I drove a V8 it wasnt to bad. I own the 2006 V6 and yeah I would say they are one of the slower V6 trucks Ive ever driven. That wasnt even a concern of mine when I bought the dakota though. It was 1. Space, 2. hauling ability 3. personal taste.

The V8 wasnt really to bad at all but when you compare it to alot of other v6's trucks, its about the same sometimes worse. Now under heavy load its better by leaps and bounds do to its tq. but for like, pure accel. its no great shakes.

I still love my truck though. My father has a 03 Ranger with the newer 4.0L V6. Now thats an impressive package. The truck is small and a bit lighter and that truck moves. Probablly one of the faster v6 trucks on the road.
