Default aren't dakotas slower than dirt?

I thought they were anyway. Some hillbilly wanted to race me in my ford probe gt a couple weeks back...and i thought he was just a clown and went about my business. The PGT is a slow car mind you.....but it can't be slower than a dakota? What do these things run STOCK 0-60 and 1/4 mile? I realize that you can make even a Yugo fast if you pour enough money into it...hence the stock disclaimer. Thanks!

i am running 14.3 with a few mods, but the ford p, gt was a quick car. tara owned one and i was eating up nissan maximas with 300 horses. car would stick and go and corner like a dream. her car would give my truck a good run. now that i have my internal mods done i hang with stock hemis putting 260/280 horse to the pavement.

how many mods to get to 14.3? that's pretty quick,,.nice job. PGT is a low to mid 15 second car.

i have the internal 206 cams with a matching pcm piggy backed by a jet stage 2 chip. normal cat back exhaust and iat adjuster, looking into headers soon. also my cats are punched out for a better flowing exhaust. only 93 octane though. gets kinda of expensive to daily drive. but a lot of fun. also my k / n intake

It's not the fastest truck around but I've had a few Chebys and Fords trucks wondering what happened, around here alot of crew cabs with a 1000lbs of toolboxes & monster bumpers, stick on some Flowmaster 40s they think they're ready for Indy.

i dont get what you guys are expecting...
its a truck...its not like its going to jump off the line
its 4200 pds...not a car that weights 2K
its ment to haul dirt and bricks...not groceries
its not going to beat a mustang at the track [sm=bangbang.gif]

Here in Texas there's probably more trucks on the road than cars, yea I relize any car with a moderate size motor will probaly eat my lunch,it is fun to go down to Houston and jack with the ricers, take a 12yr old honda slap some wheels that are worth more than the car, stick a fart cannon on it and go to town.there's some guys down there with some serious ricer cars but if I sunk 10k into the engine of my Dakota it would be pretty quick to.

most trucks are made to look nice.there are some that are stripped to nothing and made to run at the track, but over all they are a work horse.
