2nd Vs 3rd Gens
I've known guys with the Gen III's to burn rubber all day. I can't with the AWD... maybe on a wet surface, but it's a quick chirp.
I think it has something to do with the suspension. When I bought my 05, they said that they changed the suspension so it didn't hop on bumps, but my truck hops on them.
Oh yeah, there's a lot more mods for the Gen III's than you realize.
I have noticed the guys with Gen3's talk about a lot of wheel hop, is that related to the suspension or tires or both

Unless you need the extra towing capacity of the Gen III, stay with your Gen II. I've had all three generations of Dak and the Gen II is by far the best one. My '05 is okay, never had a maintenance problem and I like the looks and 7,150 lb tow rating but it goes and handles like a big truck. Not nearly as quick or agile as the Gen II. Aftermarket goodies are very few and most of them are bling rather than go-faster or handle-better items. There used to be an after-market supercharger available but that's been discontinued.

I thought I had heard that the 6sp. manual will, eventually, be available on V-8 models--it just isn't out quite yet. I have the 6sp. with a V-8 and i love it.

Clarify perhaps?
I had a 2001 GenII 4x4 v8 545RFE. I loved it. I traded it in on an '05 4x4 v8 545RFE. I love it even more! Well, except one thing. The gas tank hangs a bit low and obviously impedes the ground clearence ALOT. I put the skid plate kit on it the week I got it. It was a breeze to install, but kinda heavy. Hopefully a quality lift kit will become available....soon.

that doesn't make sense?
