Center Consol Sub Box Build
Just what the title says.
I removed the center seat/arm rest thing in my CC.
Here is a pic of the space I had to work with and pictures of the finished project from different angles. The subs are 8" Ascendant Audio Assassin's. Running them off of an Alpine MRP-M450. They are getting 200 W each.

Overall impressions of the Assassins is wow. Very clean all over. The box is roughly 1.2 cubes after sub/port area. Tuned to 38 hrtz. Each sub getting 200 W. I listen to everything (blues/rock/country/screamo/little rap crap). It sounds amazing. I even threw in some Jeezy to see what they could do. Unbelieveable how low these things hit. I'm very impressed with the overall SPL. Oh, and that was my first carpet job on a box. Not perfect, but not that bad either.
Thought I would share...thanks for looking.

If you look at the 2nd picture down, you can kinda see the slope. It goes from 10" in the back to about 6.5" in the front. Gradual slope. I didn't want the size of the box to overpower the interior. I also needed as big a box as possible for the subs. In the end, I think it was nice compromise. I actually modeled 10" in the front to see what it would look like and it looked too out of place. 6.5" was a good fit and seemed to flow better. And yes, I still have a spot to rest my arm.
I am assuming that the box is sealed. Are you sure that you need as much open air in that box? I would suggest opening that box back up and putting a divider to seperate the subs from the front "armrest" section of your box (roughly in the middle of the box). I believe you will be able to get a much stronger sound out of your subs.
Just my $.02

Ah! Thanks for the clarification. I do see the port. It seems as if your carpet job looks pretty good for a first time job! So let us get a break down:

OK, fair enough... I'll assume you're talking about box parts...
Parts
1 4x4 piece of 1/2" birch ($20)
1 tube liquid nails ($3)
1 6ft piece of 4" pvc ($8)
1 brad nailer w/ 1.5 inch nails (had already)
Spare carpet left over from garage carpet (had already)
3M super adhesive spray ($12)
Cost
Lets say $45 after tax
Time
I'd estimate 5 hours start to finish (includes removing seats, measuring, cutting, gluing, nailing, carpeting, etc)
Tips
Measure 2 times cut once. It'll save a lot of frustration. Other than that, if you can use a jig saw, circular saw or even better a table saw (wish I had), you can do this.
Other thoughts, if there's anyone who doesn't think 8" subs will get the job done, get 2 of these in the right box and throw 200 W rms at each and get back with me. They are very impressive.
Here's the total system and I'm going off of memory here:
Infinity Reference 6010i's front and rear. ($80 per set)
Alpine 4800 CD ($150)
Alpine Amp F250 for Infinity's ($150-$200)
Alpine Amp MRP-M450 for subs ($200)
Ascendant Audio Assassin 8's ($50 each)
Wiring+Misc Items ($75)
