talk to my servicedept. today and they said it would be $75 to hook up the wiring. $150 hitch, $170 wiring, $75 install = $395 total. Isn't thay more than the tow package? and you don't get the tran. cooler, heated mirrors, battery etc... why would you build a truck without a hitch?

Was that added on latter or when you bought it?

I agree, but some people don't see it that way.Maybe they don't see them selves towing down the road,or it's just another added feature that dosen't apply to them....Or so they thought.

Yes,I bought the truck w/ all the fixins & I got this truck solely for towing our camper.

I agree not everyone is going to pull a trailer, but when you put a trailer ball bumper mount on a truck like the dakota has (a reciever without the 2" square hole) at least add a four pin plug at the rear.

I called the accessories department where I bought the truck & harness, talked to the guy I bought it from. It was frustrating, he knew exactly what wire it was & where it went but he couldn't tell me for liability reasons! Once I figured out how to play the game-ask questions, he could answer yes or no- I'm not making this up
Sounds like he was just bored and wanted to play some games.

Kinda suprised that they dontcome witha plug under teh dash for the trailer brake controller to plug into from the factory. Most vehicles I;ve wired up for trailers had 7 wires already tucked away in teh rear (f/s GM trucks/SUV's were our mainstay with some Fords and dodges).

mo, do youintend on towinga trailer with trailer brakes? If not, just get one of those flat 4 kits from the auto store for $25 and it plugs in to the factory harness by the rear bumper/spare tire area. Nice thing is theres no cutting wires (other than putting one screw in the frame or use a bolt inafactory hole) for teh ground).

BTW is the kit a 5, 6 or 7 way plug?

I may not need brakes, but I like to have them just in case. The kit has a 4 & 7 pin conection

at any rate I do like the factory harness that I bought, installed everything looks (is) factory. One of these days I'll go to the dealer & let them route & hook up the brake wire
