Would appreciate advice...
Traded off my 04 Dakota QC 4.7 in July due to "thinking" I couldn't afford the gas and regret the heck out of it...Bought a little 4cyl Vibe which is great but it ain't a Dakota....Anyhow, here's my situation...One of the dealers here has the exact truck I want EXCEPT for it has the 3.7 and not the 4.7 and I'm just wondering how much I might miss the 4.7 or will the 3.7 be fine......I don't and won't do any towing or hauling but would like to add a CAI later and maybe a flowmaster muffler, etc...............What they're offering is an 06 ST QC TRX for $18000 and the msrp is $25700....Any input and stuff would be appreciated. I guess my main question is; will I be satisfied with the V6..Thanx so much for any advice and opinions !!!

Well, think I'm gonna at least go drive the V6 and see what I think...Also sent another dealer an email to see if he could find me either the club or quad in the V8 with my specs, so guess we'll see about that.....I definitely loved the 4.7 when I had it but "might" be satisfied with the V6; God only knows, but I'm at least gonna drive it I think...Thanx a million for y'alls input. It is definitely appreciated !!

I have to admit that I am pretty satisfied with my 3.7. From a horsepower perspective, there is not much difference between the 3.7 and the 4.7 (not the4.7 HO). Torque is really the difference in these motors, and of course that is what you feel.
I'm also pretty surprised. I do alot of highway driving and my truck gets between 18-19 mpg.

Test drive it and see if you like it. Don't settle, or you could repeat the process again in a year!
If you decide to buy, get them down from the 18k price... It's fair, but I am sure ST's are really hanging around in lots so they should be willing to go a bit lower. With employee discount I was able to get my 06 SLT V8 QC 4x2 for $16.5 in August (msrp $26.5), so you should be able to get close to that now I would think.
One more thing, before you buy check the build date. If it's old work in the deal that they should change all the fluids as a peace of mind. I didn't and really wished I had - mine was built in July 2005! It shouldn't be hurt but it means I'll be changing everything a year earlier than I should have to.
Happy buying!

Ok, I'm not sure what part of country you live in, but I'm in Missouri and bought my 05 QC 4X4 4.7 with 25K mi. for 19,500. There are very little MPG differences between the two motors and I have read and heard from people who claim their 3.7 is underpowered. For that price, I'm sure you can do better. I hope this helps, let us know what you decide.

jaybird is correct. there is a one mile difference in the gas. dont waste your time with a 6 banger. wait and get what you want, but remeber the 06 and up only have the 3 yr warrenty the 05 still have the 7 yr.plus everything that you get for the 6 banger will fit on the 4.7. with the work i have done to my 4.7 i hang with the stock hemi quad cabs, only because of the weight difference.
