Do yourself a favor and dont use anything other than 87 octane. Using anything higher than that is a waste in these cars, because the computer is flashed to reconise 87 octane, and so if you use anything else it will just adjust the fuel mixtures and you wont be able to tell a difference.

I don't know about that. I notice a difference in mileage with 89 or 93. I get way worse mileage with 87. I don't know if there's much difference in power, but mileage...

Any gains you see from using a higher octane are imaginary. Only the HO needs 91 octane the base 4.7 will run the same on any gas, your just wasting money on higher octanes. Raising the octain for preformance is a ricer idea, mite as well put a type R sticker on your truck, you will see the same preformance gains.

To see any gains with a higher octane, you will need a hotter ignition system and you will have to play around for while with your timing.

I'm not talking about hp gains. All I see is gas mileage increase. Also, I found out from a Dakota/Durango distributor that we have the HO intake automatically. I was going to buy an HO from him and he told me that Dodge started putting the HO intake a few years ago. I have to believe him because I'm trying to buy an expensive part from him. Why would he turn me down?

I think that if I had high performance cams in it, then it would be a different deal with the 91, or if I had it tuned to the 91. But like I said, I see a difference of about 1-2mpg difference with 89 vs 87.

I would put in 91 if it was available here. It's usually 87, 89 or 92....Some have 87, 89, 92 and 93......I have done this a few times before: 1/3 tank of 87, then rest with 93 so I'll end up with a blended 91--that's a pain......So I put in 92 or up it to 93 if there's only a penny or two diff in price....But with my HO, I can tell a diff in HP b/t 87 and 91+......So in this case I feel I am not wasting my $.....

I did a 16.95 @ 77mph. It would have been faster, but I had slowed down to find the damn line. I saw a bunch of other lines before the finish line. I'm working on getting some stuff to increase my speed and lower my time.
Your truck has full time AWD. Doesnt that make it a tad slower? I have seen on dragtimes.com that a RWD o5 dak ran 16.1 ~ 16.5. (1/4) (stock) That was only the club (2 door) version. My 2 doors might slow my truck down. So maybe my truck will run 16.5 1/4, I wish I had a drag strip around my house.

One foot full on the gas, and one foot on the brake and when the christmas tree goes green, let go of brake.

You have to remember that AWD also provides no slippage. I also have added mods to the engine and exhaust. I don't think it makes you slower. Like I said, it would have been faster if I hadn't slowed down thinking that I had already crossed the finishline. I'll see if I can find my race slip.
