When I'm on the freeway and start to climb any sort of a grade, my truck will start to hesitate and slow down, until I either floor it to make it downshift, or the cruise finally says "ok he's lost 10mph I should downshift..."
I dunno...it's crazy...I love it...just in the higher gears it doesn't work right...

RE: wheres the power
technically the truck should maintain speed with the cruise on. next time you have the cruise on and coming to a hill lightly touch the pedal dont give it gas but lightly rest your foot on it. when the truck starts going up the hill and starts to drop in mph you should feel the pedal move away from your foot. if this is not happening then there is a leak some where in the system. wether the line has a crack in it or the system is just bad. that is actually a saftey problem when you are going 70 and come to an incline and truck slows by 10 mph what are the other people behind you going to do, slam on there brakes or swearve around. truck should maintain speed

One thing to try... In my last Dakota ('01 4.7 auto) it would always downshift quick if I breathed on the gas, sounds like a good thing but wasn't with the 14mpg I was getting. What I had to do was disconnect the battery overnight and then drive like a grandpa for a week or two. After that, the computer "learned" to shift leisurely unless I put my foot in it. I like having some pedal travel so I can more easily distinguish between normal F/E driving and fun driving. Anyway, I would guess if you did the reverse your truck would be much more willing to hold gears or downshift quick. Disconnect the battery overnight, drive it like hell for a week, and you should get quicker downshifts and more gear holding than before.

RE: wheres the power
Yep. They do business with the topper company (Topper Town) and they will arrange to have the bedrug liner and topper moved over. I just need to take it there to have it done. Other things such as the factory rear mudguards purchased from the dealer and painted at the dealers third party body shop will be paid by DCX so I can do it again on Gray II. The side window shades and bug shield also will be replaced by DCX. Gray I will be sold back with these items on the truck. Others things such as an extra key fob I had purchased and window tint will also be reimbursed. In reality, I paid 30k for gray one but I am being allowed thefull MSRP of 32k so this will all be worked out. I also will have the no interest loan as I had on my original purchase. Friday should be the day of the switch over. Dam it sure took long enough. Can't get her home.
