I recently had a check engine light come on in my 05 dak. The stealership is telling me that it's a problem with my EGR system. Even though my truck is still under warranty they won't fix it because I put a flowmaster exhaust on my truck. They said I have to put the stock exhaust back on for them to fix it. I was wondering if anyone was having problems with their EGR system after putting on a mod exhaust, or is the stealership just looking for an excuse not to cover a warranty item.

 

Well it doessss have to do with exhuast gases, so it could possibly be the exhaust, but mine hasnt had anything.. I'd say bring them a copy of the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act, found at the top of the third gen dakota section, labeled WARRANTY QUESTIONS.... bring that in, and have them prove that the exhuast is causing it. Until then, wreak havoc.

 

Try a different dealer, they are not all bad.
