Default CD Player

I just bought a 2005 Quad Cab Automatic Dakota this weekend. I was reading through the user's manual that the CD player also plays MP3 cds. I made a CD with 5 folders containing 15-20 songs and 1 folder holding about 60 songs. When I put the CD into the CD player it displays CD ERR. Do not all 2005 Dakotas play MP3 CDs or what am I doing wrong? I have the single-disc CD player and no satellite radio options. I have a portable CD player that plays MP3 CDs so I know I made the CD correctly. Thanks for your help!

Only the 6-discchanger model reads MP3 CDs. The single has the MP3 player 3.2mm jack on the front panel and I believe you have that model since you have the single disc player. The 6-disc changer is standard on the Laramie model and optional on the SLT.

Does that mean I need a headphone-to-headphone wire to use it? Where is it located at on the panel? I have the SLT. Thanks!

If you have the plug in it will be near the bottom of your radio but my 05 w/ single disc does not have one. That may not have been available until 06 because my neighbors 06 mega cab ram has one.

The aux-in was new for '06, '05 radios don't have them. You'd know if you had it - there'd be a plug staring you in the face

Have you tried a CD without folders? That COULD work.

Along this same line...does anyone know of an online source for iPod stereo (headphone to headphone) cable?

I have searched Radio Shack and all they have is the mono version of 1/8" male-to-male cable. Also Amazon's Apple iPod store search results found nothing.

My 06 Dak QC has the input aux-in so I'm G2G there. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Excellent...Thank you very much. Don't know why my search didn't find it but I appreciate your efforts.

I'm willing to sell my CD player with the AUX input. 75 bucks shipped forum members.

Just for a heads up.

Just realized I hit the 7 instead of the 8... damn laptops and playing video games while typing...

These things are selling for 100+ on eBay.

So that'd be 85 shipped...
