The third choice would be to do it like they do to the Ricers, and put it through the side of the truck through the wheel well. I'll be using alum tubes for the colder air, which of course is way better.
the v6 mag on my ram came like that

plastic is better than metal temperature wise. being around the engine the metal will conduct heat more than the plactic. its not a huge difference so if you really want looks then go with the metal. personally, i went with the plastic.

I don't know if I would blow alot of time and money on trying to improve airflow, from what I've seen about the subject DC uses MAP sensor on it's modern V8sto monitor incoming air it limits the computers ability to take advantage of the increased air, have youseen in magazines and tv when they stick a CAI on a GM and dyno it they pick up like 20 something hps thats because they use MAF sensors,it lets the computer take advantage of the increased airflow, check out somebody's GM truck look in between the filter and TB you'll see a piece in there that seperates the intake tube and has wires coming from it thats a MAF,what I've seen on the HEMI's they have the same setup as the 4.7 andthey seem to only start showing significantgains with a combination of CIA, headers, exhaust systemand programing,so I think maybe before spending big $ on the pipe bending route for an intake maybe a set of headers with true dual setup,TB,top it off with cams and a PCM flash,Just something for y'all to chew on there's plenty of info out there on the subject,And from what I hear you can not convert over to a MAF system.

Good info, but also, quite possibly the longest run-on sentence, I have ever read. ;-)

I didn't really feel any major power boost when I put the intake on. When I added the exhaust I felt a difference. It's all a combination of factors, as you said.

Lol, it's ok. I just got very lightheaded reading all that, cuz I couldn't stop. Except for a minimal breath. Haha.. makes me think of Jim Carey in Ace Ventura...
