For Sale: 4.10 Gears/Ring & Pinion
Man they do look literally brand new. Hard to believe they have any miles on 'em at all. If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost for you to swap to the 4.10's originally (total of parts/ labor)?
Well it was on 2/15/06 that I had the Dana Trak-Lock and the 4.10 gears installed last year
The gears were $220 SHIPPED & the LSD was $265 SHIPPED. There is a guy selling his used stock LSD (6,000 miles on it) for only $180 SHIPPED in the Classifieds (if you're looking for one
)
It was $295 out the door for everything put in (labor wise).....they reused the bearings (since the truck only had 3,000 miles on it) & everything else. Just needed a new crush sleeve, oil, and RTV for the gasket is what he told me.
BUT when I had them put the 3.55's back in today they only charged me $200 (they cut me a little break). So anywhere from $200-300 should be the right range for the labor.
I had a dedicated Ring & Pinion shop do it though.....so just find a reputable place to do it

Oh and if you're adding a different LSD/locker or whatever, then the labor won't be more $$$ because the differential has to be come out anyways for a gear swap regardless.
Just a heads up, if you didn't already know. Just do them both at the same time if you're planning on doing it....it'll save you some $$$.
