I just had my steering wheel replaced under warrant (2005) Model. The finish seems to come off, delaminate or something. The stuff under the fihish kind of feels like its sticky or something. Good to know there are nice covers available since the replacement steering wheel is the same as the original and the problem most likely will return.

 

Sounds like you need a factory "leather wrapped" wheel too
