well, if you go w/ the chevy, the best ur gonna do is a 5cyl... dont plan on towing anything. I have had no problem with my truck. it tows my brothers boat no problem, and it managed a larger U-haul trailer to florida and back, loaded with all of my stuff... to tell you the truth, I was a little worried about getting a mid-size. I wanted an F-150, but after driving one, I canned that idea. teh best thing to do is go and drive a few different trucks. try the colorado, and the Dak. see what you like best. Dodge has come a long way with rear ends and trannys, so you shouldn't be so concerned about that anymore.
as for S.I. good call, too bad one of em isnt in the back of a DAK though

Do yourself a favor and get the Dakota. I've owned both. I had an '05 GMC Canyon (basically a rebadged Colorado) for 23 months, then traded it for a Dakota. My GMC was the extended cab (same as a Dodge Club Cab) and it was drastically underpowered. I also had a slew of engine problems and poor fuel economy, though your's could be OK in the department--I just had a lemon. I just couldn't imagine that 5 cyl in a Crew (Quad) cab truck. I love my Dakota...it's got great power and better fuel economy.
well take a look at the new h 3 talk about no power. my owner of the company i work for has one. traded in his suburban for it and he said he is kicking himself for that. but all his fleet trucks are dodges. so he has some good in him
