Default 07 daks new 4.7

go to www.allpar.com and look what they have to say for the new 07 4.7. they have taken some things from the hemi and stuffed them into the 4.7 . creating 290 hrspwr and 320 ftlbs of torque. if this is the case you would be able to buy a create engine from dodge with this power. dont know if the brochure has this in it or not

Jeze all I have been telling ya all what direction the Dakota needed to go in to survive and be a real contender is coming into fruition just as I wrote about in so many forums and posts. It is as if someone at DCX heard my concerns, without acknowledgement went ahead, and is building the truck the way it should had been built from 05 and on. I guess better late than never. About F—n time!

I think you mean '08 Dakota, superdak05. Heres the article.
The 4.7L looks like it will be pretty nice for 2008.
Heres a list I made up of HP per liter for Chrysler's motors. The 2008 4.7L with 290HP will make 61.7HP per liter. Basically, it makes .3HP more per liter than the (now retired) 8.3L Viper V-10.

Can anyone enlighten me on the 4.7L? I am familiar with the 5.2 and 5.9 and am considering trading in my 99' ram w/ 5.9 for a 06' dakota with a 4.7L, but I am not familiar with the motor. Has this engine been around for a while? Is it dependable? Also, anyone got a 05'-07' 4x4 quad cab? I need to know a little more about these before I can make the jump.

Thanks!

i would love to answer this but my truck is not stock any more. you will have to read about the truck from some other people that dont have money to invest in there truck. plus mine is a club cab. but what i will tell you is the 4.7 is the motor that replaced the 5.2 . my 4.7 is strong and was stronger than my 5.2 ever was. but coming of a 5.9 you will see a little less in performance. but gas mileage is better .

I am just looking for a little piece of mind. My Ram has a few things that are hinting they are going to go wrong. I have been pretty disappointed with the 5.9L it sucks gas and doesn't have the horse power I expected. It might be that it is a Quad Cab 4x4, but I had a94' reg cab 2wdwith a 5.2L previously that would smokem at any given time. The 94' shattered the pinion gearand hadconstant electrical problems though. The 99' is developing a slight tranny slip, and also had to have the rear axle reworked.

My current dodge bogs down the road like it is towing a rock behind it. It will pull anything I want it to, as long as I stop and fill the oil every 200 miles or so.

I am tossing around the idea about replacing it with either a dakota quad cab or a Chevy colorado (or equivelant) club cab. I have become carefull about owning a dodge in the past few years.

Funny, cuz of the storm, I borrowed my Mom's 98ish Grand Cherokee full-time 4 wheel drive with the 318 in it (My Dak is 4x2 and...w/e...it was nasty weather). I recall driving that Jeep b4 and thought that it had good pickup...Well, it's the 1st time driving it since my Dak (had it for 53 weeks now:-)), and the Dak feels (is) much stronger. Certainly sounds badder to with the Flo!
