To all of you guys who have the 180 stat installed. is the NAPA part number 530080? my cousin works at napa and says he can get me a stat for cheap. I think they are like $10 from what I have been reading. I just need to know if I am right about the number... any feedback is appreciated.

yeah, I will prolly just use my dremel... how big is the notch? I havent got the truck into the garage to swap it yet... I assume it is to line it up... also, superdak... do you remember how much fluid is in the system. I think the service manual said 3 1/2 gallons. but I have read someplace on here that it was like 5... just wondering what container to use to catch it in is all.
all you need to do is drain the radiator about 2 gallons. when you unbolt the housing for the stat becarfull not to get fluid in eyes.some will drain out but not much less than a pint. also the drain **** is only cheap plastic so dont break it. here is a pic of the stats the 195 is on the left and the 180 in the middle

yeah, the truck is basicly brand new. less than 13K. I dont think it needs changed. but I prolly will drain it a ways. My question is how precise does this notch have to be?

just good enogh so the rubber gasket that you take of the factory stat fits. mine is not perfect so i turned the gasket inside out and cut the rubber nipple off. but becareful if you do this not to cut through the gasket
