What bed size for a Lund Tri Fold?
New 3rd gen Dakota owner here. Had a 2nd gen (4.7 quad cab Sport) for 5 years and it was the best truck I ever had. Always wished it was an R/T though so this time around it is. (bright yellow). I'm building it up right now and need a little help. I got a magnaflow on it with the Resonator removed and it sounds great. I get the alarm, Lojack, under rim bed liner, and bed extender installed this Tuesday "yea all at once". The last thing I want to do for now is install a Lund Tri Fold cover on it but when I try to order it the choices are for "short bed - Quad Cab" and "short bed - Not Quad Cab". I'm confused, are our Club Cab Dakotas considered a short bed? I wonder why they dont just distinguish them as club or quad? I dont want to order the wrong one and have to hassle sending it back. Also it seems all the sites that you can buy them from use the same terminology.
One more thing, if anyone out there "in Southern California" knows where I can buy this thing at a walk in shop that would be even better. I would love to just go pick it up.
Thanks.
Here is the new baby so far:

first off the truck is bad ***. why get a tri fold when a nice fiberglass cover would be better. most truck and cap shops should have theses in stock. but your local pep boys or what ever you have out there o riellys should be able to get one

Welcom to the forum... I also agree with superdak... nice truck. as far as teh fiberglass or not. I chose not. but I also use my truck for work purposes and need the bed regularly... Fiberglass looks the best IMO, but I didn't want to fight with it if I needed anything tall in the bed... so cheap sportmaster rollup it was... lol
The Quad Cab bed is 5'3" and I think the Club Cab bed is 6'6". And please, definately consider a fiberglass cover, it will: keep moisture out better, last longer, and most importantly
look better. Good Luck!
look better. Good Luck!
Thanks Guys, I appreciate the compliments and comments.
I cant use a fiberglass lid because I need to be able to get at the bed from time to time. I think they are the best looking and I went to that shop today but in the end I cant use one of those, love the same color as the truck look of them though. I do know for sure the beds of the quads are shorter than the beds of the club cabs but still, are they all considered "short beds". I know a couple of you on this forum have purchased these, what did you order? Money is just burning a hole in my pocket!

Is your truck lowered in the rear? Looks awesome, that’s going to have to be another one to add to my list of to do's.

quad cab is a 5 ft 4 inch and the club cab is 6 ft 6 inch. when you order your cover they all same the same. you need the club cab 6 ft 6 inch. most sites say cc or qc depending on the cover.
and when you do order it , it should say dakota short bed execpt quad cab. because the quad cab says dakota short bed with the 5 ft bed. so as long as it says short bed except the quad cab you should be ok.
