Default California Laws

Hey long time no see right? I just got moved to Monterey California where I am now based for a year. The Presidio of Monterey is a Language Institute for the military. Anyways I want my truck back but I am worried about smog check. Does anyone know what the ruled are as far as exhaust system and CAI? I have seen a lot of loud trucks around here and I'm wondering if they are illegal or modified just right. Help much appreciated.

i am not to sure about that. but if you lived where the laws were different try and keep it registred and insured there. but if you need to register it where you are now, most newer trucks dont have to go threw inspection or emmisions so you might be ok.

I sold my 2002 to my son-in-law who lived in Long Beach. It has a CAI and cat-back. Both items checked-out okay with the California smog cops.
Airraid CAI
Flowmaster cat-back.

You know if you're active duty you don't have to register it in Cali. I'd keep it going in the state that you registered it in. That's the nice thing about being in the military full time.

You will need to have a CARB stamp on the vehicle, and more then 9,000 miles IIRC. I would keep it out of state if you can, I still have mine registered in Michigan due to the outrageously high prices of reg./yearly smog. I brought my truck back about 2 years ago.

Yea lived in cali my whole live except the past year moved to texas, smog there sucks and yea if a cop pulls you over and just doent like you he will ticket you for anything he can and send you to a referee where they go over your car with a fine tooth comb(most of the time). CAI have to have a CARB label like said earlier post, exhaust as long as you have a cat and muffler you should be good
