no, he didn't have protestors at the funeral, but he did when he got off the plane... its horse ****. if you thought it was/is a good idea to go or not is your opinion... but to not support the guys and gals that are out there fighting for us is ***MAJOR EXPLITIVE*** B.S... regardless of how you feel, those are peoples kids, and kids moms and dads... They are doing what they are called to do.
I agree with you. It hurts me to think that the Vietnam Vets went through that in the 60's and 70's. I feel for them.
Some teachers in Maine treated the students at an elementary school like crap because their parents were off fighting in the war. I would have laid into those teacher in a heart beat. Pisses me off.[:@][:'(]

IDK... I have heard a lot of bad things about recruiters and how they will tell you anything to get you to sign. I will go talk to the guard guy though... see what he says, and see if its something I can get into. It would be nice to have some more training. i was thinking about going back and getting a masters, but the funds are too tight to try... a masters takes a bit more focus than I can devote right now.
but extra cash and the pride involved might out weigh the 6 weeks of basic. its something to think about atleast. I could sure use that 20 grand to pay off some stuff... like my credit cards and truck loan.

Just to let you know, it's 9 wks of basic and about 2 months of AIT, depending on what you go into. The 20K comes to you after AIT, and that's only half after taxes and then you get the last half on your third year. You'll end up with 14200 and then you should get some of that back in taxes.
If you have any questions, let me know. I believe you have my number. I'm a recruiter too, but I don't bs people to get enlistments, especially since I don't recruit right now. If something he says doesn't jive with you, I'll do the best I can to answer your questions to help you out. I hate it when recruiters will say whatever you want to hear. It's just bad business.

I just wanted to say I have an extreme amount of respect for everyone. I would have joined the Army if I had the *****, but I'm a chicken. I don't think I could handle bein away from my family, plus I wouldn't feel like I was doing my job in the army unless I was infantry, so I'd be in a less favorable position to stay here. I gave it a good year of serious contemplation, but I decided to go with a civilian lifestyle. However, it sickens me when people don't support our troops and I often try and tear someone a new one when I hear them badmouthing our troops. Its one thing to not support the war itself, its another thing to not support the troops.
Oh and I forgot, that crazy funeral group is run by Fred Phelps (I think that's how you spell it), or atleast one very similar to it, he's an evangelist that protests at military funerals because (atleast he claims) there are all kinds of gays in the military. From what I've heard they protest not only in that state, but in any state, depending where they want to go.... I think he has a couple websites, www.godhatesgays.com and www.godhates***s.com. By the way I only know this because the local radio station around here really hates the guy and tried to interview him once, so everyonce and a while they talk about the guy (not because I think what this guy is doing is right, in the least, I think its a bunch of Bull$*#!).

the army is just like everything else. if tehy want to target an occupation that has a high percentage of gays... try interior design, for crying out loud... I first heard about these crap heads on opie and anthony (XM 202!)
they talked about it, then ron and fez interviewed some crazy lady who said she was the spokesperson for this group. They have a song about the pope burning for letting some of the priests off the hook over the whole kid touching thing... I thought one of the big lessons in the bible was forgivness.
anyhow, I am going in to talk to the guard recruiter when I get out of this thing I call my job...
We are soooooo dead here that I sit and play on the internet all day. every now and then I have to go and do actuall work. maybe a remote start or radio install... not enough to pay da bills though.
