Did I get ripped off
Ok, So the dealership I bought my truck is now selling my truck for 24k for the 06 club cab ST.
I paid 16,500 with unlimitted oil changes.
But a lot of my dodge friends are telling me I got ripped off? They all say the truck isn't worth it? Compared to kelly bluebook its with 20,135. It's a 06 with 1500 miles.
And then some of my other friends sayI should of got the tacoma. I just want to know if i got ripped.

well, it depends... you bought a new truck with a warranty and service plan. (oil changes) did you go for the V8 4x4? if so, then no way did you get ripped off? Even if you got a V6 4x2, I think you still got a good deal... I see used trucks with 70,000 miles on them for $16,500 locally. They dont have a warranty or any other perks...
I bought mine (05 SLT QC 4.7l) used from the dealeriship. I forgot what they were asking for it, somehwere around 20/21k. It had 15k and I think it was a rental return. At the time I had an 03 Protege that I bought brand new and had done some mods on it. I still owed $8500 on it, and the dealer gave me $9k for it, so I was happy. I really didn't think I was gonna make any $$ on the deal. Anyways, with financing, I was paying $300 a month for my car, so for my truck, I told them I will take the truck for no more tha $400 a month, everything included. So that works out to $24k total, including financing, tax, title, bla bla bla..... I don't think your $16.5 is too bad, especially if your happy witht the truck. plus now you can have some fun "modding" the hell out of it like everyone else on this site.
I bought my truck new in June/July last year. Paid 16,400. Go try to find another new, mid-size, extended cab, auto, v6, air, etc...truck for that price. You won't find one. Same truck, same features from Toyota, Nissan, Chevy, Ford, etc will cost over 20K.
The only other thing that comes close are the Silverados and F150's. You can get their base (work truck) truck for about the same. Not going to get the extended cab though and probably not an auto. Other than those 2, I can't think of a better deal. This is of course assuming that I get at least 150,000 virtually trouble free miles out of my Dakota.

well, to add to that, chevy doesnt make a V6 colorado, fords ranger is not even close to the same size as the dak... My father in laws FX4 ranger (off road model) sits lower than my 06 Quad cab 4x4... his club cab looks like useless space in the back. maybe set boots or something back there, but not humans.
The tacomas dont offer a v8 either... you have the best mid-size pickup. even if its a V6, you still have advantages. and every truck has dis advantages. I didnt point out ours, cus the forum has covered them enough.

I wouldn't listen to your friends man. Everyone has their bias, and in the midsize segment a LOT of people drive a tacoma. I would be lying to you if I told you the Tacoma wasn't a good truck. But the dakota does offer some perks that the others do not. In your case your truck has more interior room than any other in the class. Also, the Dak is the only V8 in the segment. Not to mention the fact you paid about 15 g's for your truck, whereas a tacoma used with 1500 miles on it would have been around 22-24K because of the high resale value. I ended up paying 26K for my Dak, and it has just about every option and stickered for 36K. Anyway, theres my opinion on the subject anyway.
Yeah Idk I just bought my truck last week, its a 2006 SLT club cab with the 3.7L V6 4X2 and it had about 12k in miles on it. It was an employee lease turn in and my unlce works the the chrysler HQso I got employee pricing. Oh it also came with the factory warrently + 3months or 3k miles...and a 8yr 80,000 limited powertrain, and roadside assistance, $100 dollars free towing, and a free rental car if they take my car in to the shop...all free paid for via chrysler. So the total cost with tax and transfer fees was just under 14K...and I can't say I woulda got a better deal...although if I woulda got a new truck theres 5,500 cash allowance right now on the Dakotas...so its all on whether or not your happy with your truck and YOU feel you got a good deal.
OH also the new MSRP for a truck exactly like mine was about 24K... and the MSRP for it used (without employee pricing) was 14K.
