does this sub fit?
Man that looks shallow, but 6.5 at the bottom should fit a decent 10. What will the internal air space be after sub displacement? I've heard good reviews about the Pioneer shallow mount subs.

I am looking at putting a JL W1 in so I am looking at around .6 ft3 after subdisplacement... but the enclosure its self is .625 ft3... after displacement depends on the sub.
as far as being shallow... yup, but it is as large as you can make it in that space back there... I didnt go with the concave sub placement because I am getting the wire mesh grill for the JL sub... it is plenty sturdy to hold the seat fabric off the sub...
Also, if anyone is looking for a bad sub and amp, I am getting rid of my alpine type X 10 and Directed D2400. the amp runs 1200 rms by 1 ch. at 1 ohm... works out perfect for the sub, as it is set up at 2 ohms and bridged at the amp into the 1 ohm load... I am hitting 137db. in a .66 ft3 sealed box. When I had it in a Qlogic slot port I was hitting 141db. I dont really push it that hard... never to the point of distortion.

I built some custom boxes that had a typical truck box design. I ran ABS pip6sing between them so I could increse my air space. I put two Kicker comp VR10s in because they have a 5 9/16 mounting depth. If you slam them to the bottom of the boxes they fit in a box about 6 1/2 at the bottom and 2 1/4 at the top. They sound AWSOME. The only draw back with my plan is the boxes cover the air inlets behind the seats, so when they are really pounding those vents rattle like you wouldn't believe. If I were to do it again I would relocate the vents and plug the holes.

So you removed the back wall fabric cover...
what did you use to make your boxes? 1/4 mdf? I am not seeing how to get the airspace for 2 comp vrs... unless you used a real thin wood. either way, I would avoid the abs pipe... unless you wrap it in sound deadener.

Yest, fabric had to go. I used 5/8 mdf, routed out a recess for the sub flange. I also moutedthe seat back differentley. Instead of the hook that has come straight down, I welded a bracket with bolt. The seat sits a slightly steeper angle allowing a bit more space, but you cant notice the difference while seated. Also this way I can lay the seat back forward to gain access. It also makes the re-install of the seat much easier.
