but, correct me if i'm wrong, you can't replace the cat with a less restrictive one, right? well, at least not legally.

hmmm....good to know.

i might be looking into some of these exhaust things sooner than i thought. i was looking underneath the other day while i was putting gas in and, due to the wonderful salt PennDOT dumps by the ton on the roads, my exhaust system is already showing significant rust (at least on the exterior...seems mostly surface rust so far).

i'm definitely paying for stainless on the next one.

i dunno. i have to see what the cost difference is, but with the way they go nuts with salt the last winter or two, it seems like it makes a lot more sense.

Thanks for all the god info. I too now live in a salt state and stainless is something I would like also if its not too much extra. I hope to get a muffler set next month and I think I will try the setup without the res first and if its to loud I can put a res back on, mine would be in the tail pipe again.

The resonator near the back axil does two things, it does quiet the sound and definitely looks like crap under there a that weird angle it sits. I have the HO and when I had my Magnaflow installed we initially left the resonator in place. The shop had me start it up to see if it was going to be how I wanted it to sound but it wasn't loud enough. Nice and far better than stock but it needed more so we removed the resonator and it was perfect.

Coder, do you have any issues with drone sound in the cab? Did you notice a big diff in cab sound with/without the res and your magnaflow?

I don't get any drone at all. I did notice a big difference in the cab as well as outside when they cut the res off. In the cab it's nice, not to loud but just about loud enough. Lets put it this way it is not annoying at anytime, even if you are having a conversation or listening to calm music. If I could fine tune it I might make it a very little bit louder but it's really splitting hairs at that point because it's basically perfect the way it is. It would not have been loud enough if I hadn't had the res cut out.
