Default HO eng muffler?

I have the HO motor and I found out it is a different muffler compared to the reg 4.7. Does anyone no the difference in the muffler itself? I know the HO system uses only one resonator. I am thinking of getting the Gibson single swept side system (not too loud of a system) but am wondering how much improvement there would be over the stock HO system. Anyone done this?

Anything would be better than the stock system. If you remove that other resonator it will give you better sound along with the Gibson. Having an intake as well will help.

I ordered the Airaid Jr intake and plan to put a larger pipe from the airbox to the fender hole. If I can I will make a ram air set up or at least a guide fromsomeware up front to the lower airbox pipe. I just need to figure out the muffler.

If you want more power and less noise, check out the Magnaflow line. I bought mine last year, took out one of the resonators and I still have a nice rumble, but not loud, and good power. The reso I left in is under the cab so I don't get as much noise.

i think magnaflow is what i'm going to look into. i don't want it overly loud, but i do want the power and mpg benefits. i'll probably drop the resonator near the tip, but, like you, keep the one near the cab.

The Resos are straight through pipes wrapped in a muffler.

so does that mean they don't cause any power loss? can they be used with an after market muffler if it gets loud in the cab?

yeah the resonators just muffle the sound without causing a power loss. The muffler is the only thing that causes problems. I removed my 2 resonators because I wanted it as loud as possible, but since you dont want it so loud, I'd say keep one.
