what's the difference?
I know that the ho 4.7 requires high octane, but aside from that how do they get the extra hp and tq? Surely engine mngmnt (thus the high octane), but what else? anybody examined these engines side by side?
yep, sounds logical to me. thanx for the reply. like to get a little more low-end grunt from my 4.7. would ofgotten the high output 4.7 and the 3.92 rear, butthe 6m trans. took priority.
I wish they offered my jap crap version with an HO. I'm pretty please with my standard 4.7 though because it has plenty of power for what I use it for. I'll add a few bolt-ons to give it a little extra umpf but nothing much.
If you plan on doing the cams you should just pull the head off while you are there so that you can get them shaved slightly so that you can raise your compression ratio. While your at it you might as well get them ported and polished along with the IM so that they all match up.

i'm w/ you. a decent programmer w/ an intake and exhaust should be good for 20 hp conservatively. I try not to dissmantle moving parts on new vehicles, unlessnecessary. I'm thinkin' in ten years this thing could be a beast sittin on 35s. big, loud, and dumb.
