Pulling
like i've said in a few other posts, i've done that weight too. pulls like a champ.
i've used the uhaul trailers before....i can't imagine pulling one of those down to FL...not because of the weight, but because of their blasted surge brakes on the dual axle models....i can't stand them. the trailer i always borrow has electric brakes (and is bigger than a uhaul trailer) and the ride is soooooo much nicer with that.

Well, I don't plan on hauling anything that big but it's nice to know the truck can do it because you never know when you'll need it.
I'm loving the chevy! I used to have an '86 that looked exactly the same but had a custom interior, was white, and I had it up on 35" BFG All-Terrains. I kick myself in the *** for letting that one go everytime I think about it.

it can, given the proper engine/gear ratio combination, and a tow package.
for example, i have the 4.7 V8 with the 6 speed manual and 3.55 gears and a tow pack. due to my gears, i'm only rated at 5500lbs.
for towing, you want the highest numerical gear (for a stock Dakota, that's the 3.92), the V8 (surprisingly the HO and the regular V8 are rated roughly the same) and the tow package. this also forces you into an auto, because Dodge won't sell a V8 with a stick and the 3.92s. then you get the highest rating, which is 7150lbs., if i'm remembering right.
no matter what you do, you want to tow safety, especially when you're towing 7150lbs. that means trailer brakes (electric are better than surge for ride), a weight distribution hitch, and careful driving, as that is a lot of weight.
