yyyyeah that'd be a good idea to wait until 08 models. If you get an 08, you'll get a heck of a lot more power from the engine.

My '05 QC was a late build so I didn't have any of the problems with brakes that lots of others had. I also wanted a RED QC with 4.7 and towing package. Without the package it's rated at 6800 lbs, with it 7150 lbs.
If you wait for the '08, you'll not only get more power and a different front end, you'll get the big $$$ hit of buying a new vehicle - somewhere between 25% and 33% depreciation when you drive it off the lot. You can probably get a nice '06 just like you want it for $8,000-$10,000 less than a new '08.

I have an 06 CC w/ a 3.7L V6...I also have a 6-SPD manny though, I haven't really towed anything so I can't attest to its towing power, but I agree with mb18, not much leg room and if you REALLY need the space and ability to seat more than two people comfortably then go for the 06 QC, but personally I love my CC, I like the way the look much better than the QC plus the bed is a little bit longer. rick4ddak is also right you'll get the new 08 but, you'll also pay alot more for it. As far as the major brake problems with the 05 I dont' know anything about that, what I would do is get a Carfax on both and see if the 05 has been in for repair for anything like that, test drive it, and if everything checks out I wouldn't let that effect your decision too much as thatis not neccisarily going to happen to that truck...although it will be more likely to happen to that truck... Speaking of Carfax reports did you do them on either truck? And if so anything to be concerned about?

Just remember that, if you try to hold out for everything you want...the chrome wheels, running boards, red, QC, V8, etc...it's going to be harder to find than if you just buy a red QC V8 and mod it yourself. Plus, modding it yourself might be more fun for you.

Here's more info on the 2008 Dakota if you're interested: http://allpar.com/trucks/dakota-2008.html

thats very true about the modding myself part. ok well here is a question. how much do those chrome wheels cost? the ones from the factory? and where would i find them? a junk yard maybe? i am just hoping that some people trade in their red quad cabs on a 2008. i dont think i would ever buy a brand new car or truck, i will let somone else take that depreciation hit. by the way i just wanted to thank everyone for their opinions

You can get the factory ones from www.mopar.com. They are expensive, however...17"s are $231/per. The junkyard would be a much cheaper option if they have something. Also, try Ebay. Aftermarket would be cheaper, too. I'm sure, if you're interested, one of these other guys can steer you in the right directions. I haven't gotten that far yet with mine.

I would buy new. you can get a leftover 2006 crew cab with a v8 auto, tow package for about $22ish. (sticker about 31k) a club cab even less.... as far as lousy brakes MOST of these trucks have rear antilock only, maybe that is why some feel they stink. I recommend buying one with 4wheel ABS (not too many of these around IMO) good luck

thats what i did, i got 5k off from dodge since the 07s were out and then i got a little more off from the dealership and we negoatiated in the bumper to bumper extended warenty....we made the deal before the dealership recieved the truck (we had it shipped from kentucky or tennisee or somewhere (which they paid for as part of the deal)) and we felt real good about the price we were gettin (i say we because my dad got it for me, but i work for him and he takes the truck payment out of my wages each month. it is under my name, no cosigner)....once they unloaded the truck at the dealership, the offered us 1k cash not to buy it and would offer the same terms and conditions negoatiated on any other 06 vehicle in their lot....i took the truck

you really can get good deals on end of the year vehicles

I towed a 6000 pound jeep for 100 miles on a car dolly, no reciever hitch and I have the 3.7 AT. It actually pulled pretty good too.

Why did they offer you 1k not to buy it...seems silly wouldn't they want you to buy it?
