Default running boards/side steps

hello fellow 2011 durango owners!

glad to be part of the community. 2011 citadel white on black! picked it up last week and lovin it so far. pics to come

was wondering if anyone has considered running boards or side steps for easier access and exit of the car. i see dodge parts sells them for over $500 for chrome and around $400 for black, both are the tubular style side steps. any thoughts as whether to go oem or aftermarket? if aftermarket which brand is reputable?

thanks in advance

Default Side bar

Have 2011 Green Citidel Hemi. Put on factory chrome side bars 2 weeks ago. They stick out farther than I thought. Does look nice from side, not great from behind. They stick out beyond tires. I am on fence about them, I wish they were in tighter. They do make it easier to get in and out.

There is only one set of aftermarket running boards out for the Gen3.

I covered them and have a thread with details over at the DOC here:

I know some people need/want them, but those seem to totally kill the lines of the D. This vehicle begs for some articulating (hide-away) running boards.

Seems like it but steps are necessary for me and my growing family. Got a six year old son and my wife is 5 months pregnant. Both have a hard time getting in and out. I'm a newb at this but I know the Owens running board require drilling into the car. Do the tubes require the same procedure?
