Anyone have any hard facts on the 6 spd versus the 5 spd? I'm interested in 1/4 mile times and MPG.

I think I could get a sweet deal on an 11 right now, but I would forever kick myself if the 6 spd knocked off .2-.5 off the 1/4 and added a couple MPG!

I don't have anything specific, but I've read that the 5 speed is a real drag on the D, and it sure feels like it. I would suspect that the 6 speed will improve both time and mileage.

6-speed for Hemi only, right? I think still 5-speed on V6 Pentastar.

There is no 6 speed for the Durango, now, then or ever.

my buddy owns a dealership and the other day we priced a 2012 RT. It comes with a 6 speed transmission, 5 speeds still on the V^ for 2012.

The 2012 Chrysler Fleet Buyers Guide lists a six speed transmission for 2012 Durango's equipped with the Hemi. It can be downloaded from:

The 8 and 9 Speed is what the rumor mill is abuzz about.

Not a 5 Speed with a controller adding/neutering the system for a pseudo-6th gear to hit CAFE standards.

There will be a 6 speed in the 12's like others have said. I'm not concerned with the 8 speed transmission rumor mill. It'd be sweet, but we plan to buy soon.

I am wondering if anyone has specs or real life figures on perfromance of 5spd vs. 6spd. Thanks.

No specs that I have found - only the Chyrsler Fleet Buyers Guide reference to an 2nd overdrive which Indy noted as a potential reprogramming of the exisitng 5 speed. Unfortunately, having just turned 361,000 on my 98 5.2l Durango 4x4, I cannot wait for the 8 speed.

That being said, I would appreciate detail differentiating the Jeep QuadTrac II system vs the Durango AWD assuming the 5.7 L hemi.

Next time I come across it, I will cross post for you. The differences are SIGNIFICANT. Different systems actually.
