Durango 2011 Germany
Hi to All,
coming from Hamburg Germany, new owner of a Citadel.
This times drives not more than 30 pcs. Durangos in western european,
the support isn't available. So I need sometimes help for my questions
in this forum.
First Question:
In Germany we haven't an governeur speed, we can drive max. speed on
many pices of the highways. German cars do drive very fast, normaly speed
on highways up to 110-140 mph. I've problems to overtaking other cars.
I need a chip tuning to remove the max. speed, do anyone have a link for me where I can buy it ? Can I do this with a Trinity Tuner ?
Thanks for answering my first thread

I don't have an answer to your questions, but I'm curious how you maneuver this beast through the streets of German cities? Also, how on earth can you afford to fill the tank? It must take like a days pay...
So what is the top speed (albeit governor limited) that you've been able to get your Durango to? I've driven the Autoban up to about 120mph in a turbo Volvo with some confidence, but how does the Durango feel at Autoban speeds?

108 to 115 is all you can expect on the stock setup. A tuner will be required to raise that to 125 but then you are maxed out. Never heard of a Trinity Tuner. Check SuperChips.
While common place there perhaps, it not wise to be tooling around at 120MPH in any Durango in a place longer than a quarter mile drag strip.
Sometimes just because you can doesn't mean you should.

I don't see why you wouldn't want to drive at 120+mph if you could. Hey the fuel cost is on you anyway.
A Trinity for those that don't know, is a high-end graphical tuner/monitor that is produced by Diablosport. They are well known for their Predator tuners; the Trinity is just the big brother of that device. I have the Predator for my Charger which allows the speed-limiter to be raised.
Diablosport is well versed in HEMI engine tuning. Check out their website.
To the OP: Diablosport doesn't have a tuner out for the 2011 Durango just yet.

Granted you use more fuel, but the average speed on the autoban is between 80-90. If you are driving less than that you get run over. Admittedly people there drive much better, and obey the rules better (like you HAVE to get out of the left lane to let people pass), and once you get out of the city areas where the speed limits go away, it saves a lot of time to go faster. Of course what people don't quite realize is that driving at 120 requires 10 times more attention to the road than driving at 60. Things happen VERY fast.

It is not the speed that is important, but the brakes. Driving fast (I have a Corvette Z06, 2008) requires a great deal of attention, and meeting slower traffic occurs fast, thus good track quality brakes I have found to be essential. I once nearly had an Audi RS6 back end my Corvette as he just could not take it... (I admit I do track, and was at 290KM/H and the Audi was trying very hard to keep up)
I would not drive my Durango (Citadel V8) at high speed as the weight and brakes are simply not up to it. At best the discs would glaze, at worst you would fall off the road..
But this begs the question, why not by the R/T version which is a little more suitable? It is available in Switzerland, so must be in Germany.

No doubt good brakes are very important. And while accidents on the autobahn are more rare, when they do happen the results tend to be gruesome. Aside from the sports cars, most of the cars I saw travelling at great speed where large MB sedans and such.
I have a R/T and it does not have any problems stopping on a dime, even from stopping from high speeds (75-90 mph). As far as the speed goes does the R/T's have a shut down? The reason i ask is because I had it up to 124 the other day. That damn thing rides so smooth it is gooding to get me in trouble. lol
