Default Wanting New Durango but Hesitant

My Wife and I have had 3 Hemi equipped vehicles in the since 2005. 2 Durango's and 1 Road & Track charger. Out of the 3 of them 2 have been phenomenal and the 3rd ( Current 08 Durango Limited) 19.5k miles is casuing me some concern. This vehicle gets the oil changed @ 3000 miles like clock work. The problem arose around the 12k-15k mileage oil change where I was notified by the dealer that I was 2 quarts low. No leaks, no smoke and no obvious signs of anything else. Oil was changed @ 18k once again and dealers says 1 3/4 low at this oil change. Still no leaks or smoke. As you can see I am def concerned about buying another Hemi at this point. Dodge dealer says it is acceptable for HEMI to burn 2 QTS of Oil on a engine with less than 50k miles. They showed me service bulletin showing this and I coild not believe it. I have had plenty of cars in my life and 2 very Hot Boats and nothing that I have ver owned has burned this much oil, not even my lawnmower. So do I risk getting another Hemi. My Wife will not settle for a V6 , I have created a monster.

chances are your HEMI burning oil is the exception to the normal rather than being the normal,

besides that who goes through an entire oil change without once checking the oil level??

That level of oil comsumption would be unacceptable to me. I have a 1998 Durango with the 5.2l V8 and currently 500 miles short of 360,000 miles. I also have changed the oil every 3000 miles and currently use 1/4 qt between changes.
