Glad you are o.k and no significant damage....well not to your d. Sounds like the Escape driver deserved what they got, both damage, citation and hopefully a lesson learned. First accident of a GEN 3 I have heard of. Again glad there were no injuries and hopefully not too much damper on your vacation.
