Default Citadel Exterior Hot! (no pun)

Switched from a Tacoma to a Citadel V6 2x4, just yesterday. The car is fantastic!

On models I test drove and the one I took home I've noticed the exhaust heat is MUCH hotter than other cars (I used to valet and have been near a lot of tail pipes . It's so hot that you couldn't stand near the bumper when it was running.

Another time, I was wearing sandals and standing right next to the driver door looking in and I had to move because how hot the radiating heat was from under the body there

Then again, when I was removing window sticker smudge, I had the car running this time I was on the front passenger side. I had one leg hanging out, next thing I know I feel my leg hairs starting to singe.

Engine temp is fine. Outside temp has been around 90 degrees.

Oh, and I found the video of the burning Citadel so I just want to see what others are experiencing.

We have been having some hot weather here, (30C plus) and yes I also have noticed how hot it is around the engine/exhaust. I put it down to a good fan moving heat away from the engine, but it is hot, no doubt, even my Corvette Z06 does not get that hot. No problems though and engine gauges and evic says all is well.

The A/C is very good and quick to cool down, and managed to see the remote start kick in the AC obviously but also the cooling seats. Very nice relief.....

Thanks Leman,

I've come to the same conclusion: that it's got a hell of a fan and does a great job of displacing its heat.

Just thought: I have the towing "package" which adds cooling... things, that might have an effect as well on my Citadel AWD hemi. Not sure if you have that on the R/T or if that really makes a difference to the effect.

I have a R/T too and I also notice how hot it gets while you are standing next to the drivers door.

The Citadel fire was a hoax and ended up getting some folks in trouble.

Do you have any info to back this claim?

The engine is hot and takes some time to cool. The plastic cover is real hot. Do not notice it by doors but just above the headlights on each quarter panel. Hopefully by design. The video is troubling but we would have heard more if it were more than an isolated incident.

jrock, sorry but I do not. I recall hearing that it was to test the fire team's response time in a real-world situation. I also heard it was a dealer owned auto and was to be inspected by the factory.

I can tell you the Dodge would have been very interested in this whereas they are really proud of the initial overall quality of the vehicle.

Other than knowing something obviously happened, there wasn't much info after that. It may all be interwebz rumor at this point.
