Default Antennae

I take it that the whip antenna on the top of the car is for Sirius. But what is the small box antenna on the back side of the top of the vehicle? Is that GPS, or is that the Sirius TV?

Also, am I the only one who's garage door is just a touch too low so that the whip antenna hits every time on the way in and out? Going in is not so bad because of the angle of the antenna, but going out I worry about. I've already adjusted my door opener to get the door out of the way the maximum amount.

The rubber-duck whip is actually the FM antenna, the base of that is the Sirius antenna (Radio) and the other little puck I believe is the Sirius TV receiver. I'm pretty sure the GPS receiver is in the front of the vehicle under the dash and not visible.

My antenna doesn't hit....I don't get to park in the garage because my wife's minivan and some other items are already in there. I'm glad you mention this, I'll have to check. I do plan to make space so I can park in there too.

Hmm. For some reason I thought the Sirius antenna was bigger because I get so much better reception than my last car that just had the shark fin. I guess they've upgraded everything.

Someone told me the GPS is combined with the antenna, but when I checked the parts catalogue the GPS seemed to be a separate item.... it could very well be there.

Just experienced the antenna hitting garage door yesterday as it was the first time I made room to fit. That got me wondering if there is any way to replace the whip antenna for a shark fin or something else a little more subdued. I'm definitely wanting to replace the black RC car looking antenna if possible, of course without sacrificing sound/reception all around. I'll be on the look out in the meantime if anyone else figures it out let us all know.

Well you fellas may have a standard size garage opening which I believe its 6 foot....I got an 8 foot opening which a long time ago I told my builder that I wanted the 8 foot option not the standard size just in case if I buy a truck that's lifted or has a cargo basket I wanted to be able to bring the vehicle inside the garage!

Don't know why Dodge went old school with the antenna, the shark fin look would have been appealing and nicer looking piece imo!

Because the Durango is rather tall and folks are hitting garage door openers with the FLEXIBLE rubber duck antenna, what do you think would have happened to an aesthetically pleasing RIGID shark fin antenna?

I don't believe shark fin antennas are that tall probably almost the same height as the Durango's side rails!

Shark fins are 5in or less..... point being streamlined subdued look. You're talking more of an Orca sized fin that would tear a gaping hole right into the top of my garage LOL Everyone would know you'd have the biggest, baddest most ridiculous looking antenna on the block. Since there are no Orca fins out there the current antenna on Durango takes that prize
