Please excuse my ignorance here. I am a little confused as this dated system. Is this the radio, phone or Uconnect module that you're talking about here. The hands free module (Uconnect, Sync, Chevy's My link etc) will display what is sent to them based on a 0 - 5 level where "5" is full. This on the battery as well as the signal strength indicators.

Very astute observation and very close. The base system is circa 2006/2007-ish and dated. Expect to see the 2013 Gen3 to contain a much more moderized setup whereas the 2012 is very much just a 2011. The 2011 Gen3 was originally intended as a 2012 release anyways, just rushed for some early sales dollars.
The refresh may slip to 2014 based on the economy and sales... both ours and Italy's. That is why early sales dollars were/are important. Italy's economy is as bad or worse than ours and they have a bigger problem. As an EU member, they don't control their own destiny. Ireland, Spain and Italy are roughly equal in their dread and drain on the EU. Ireland is too close to the money to let fail, Spain is to big to let fail and Italy has failed to big to save. There will be a washing out all over the EU in the coming 18-36 months. The Italian bloom that is Chrysler may be simply washed away with Italy's troubles, leaving the US operations fending differently especially if US auto sales are marginal to medium.
