My "lie-o-meter" is actually very consistent given that my driving is as well.

the biggest reason i think "we" are getting better mpg than other similar vehicles is that A) the green "eco" line almost makes a preset goal for us to stay economical, i know my wife likes to keep the tach in it, she's mentioned it numerous times. B) that little upside down triangle marker on the economy screen, you always seem to watch the line like a video game "gotta....get...the line....past that marker!!" lol

It's so true, its amazing what a little less pressure on the peddle does for mpg. Rolling along in 2.5 tons of steel and getting low 20's is a very satisfying feeling! The other day I had the average mpg up to 26.5 with 150 miles on the tank and country driving at 55-60 mph.

After a 700 mile trip the average was 24.7. There was a point on the interstate the average was 27.1mpg. But I was going only 60mph then. I just wish it was safe to always travel that speed.

As for being a lie-o-meter.... it overestimated the average I was getting by 1-2 mpg. Anybody else notice this??

I did the calculations counting the miles and fill-up and got 20.5 mpg, the computer was 22.4. The previous fill up was about +1mpg over.

Downhill to infinite skews it up too much:
It was at 21.5 mpg average and after coming down the 405 south overpass into Santa Monica it went up to 22.5 mpg average, thus over some 15 miles the computer thinks I was well above 30+ mpg as the trip computer was already at 350miles. Thus downhill where the meter goes to infinite really skewed it up from the normal +1 mpg overestimate.

I've been very happy with my gas mileage, especially since I've only driven trucks and my last one was a Hemi powered Megacab....I got 17 on the highway and 12 in town.

This is my first SUV and I am very impressed with it.
UPDATE:
I finally worked out a couple of tanks of gas by hand. The above post was using the D's computer (EVIC).

The following was for mostly city driving. The EVIC showed 16.5, but when I did the math by hand, it worked out to 15.5 mpg. On another tank, the EVIC showed 16.5 (coincidence) and by hand it worked out to 14.5 mpg.

My original 21-22 hwy mileage was on the D's first trip from Dallas, TX to Tulsa, OK. That mileage was worked out by hand at the time. I was going very easy on the gas because it only had 100 miles on it....so I was breaking it in. I actually don't think I've gotten that mileage since I broke it in....my foot got heavier. I am heading to Houston this week, so I'll try to get some good Hwy numbers worked out by hand.

Final update:
I just got back from Houston. It was 289.7 miles. I filled up before I left and topped off with 14.07 gallons when I got here. The EVIC showed 23mpg, by hand it was 20.59mpg.

Driving was 65-80mph, but mostly in the 73-74mph range. No wind to speak of, head or tail. That is better than the 20 on the sticker, so I'm pretty happy.

That is real world driving...not eco-geeking it too much.
