Factory HID question.
Can someone who has the factory HID's take a picture of the output of the HID on a wall from about 25ft. away at night? I am trying to see if they have decent output. I just tore open a halogen headlight for retrofitting but these headlights are an absolute B*TCH to work with...

I'm definitely into the look of projectors and these factories are great! They are a nice clean and bright beam in my opinion. Sounds like you may have more experience with projectors seeing as how you are doing a retro fit. Also, to get a really good look at the actual beams just go to your dealership and check them out in person. Just a thought.
Let me know how it works out....

Have fun retrofitting quad projectors into the factory housing. If you have never done it, you're in for a shock (to do it right). If you have done it, you know what you are in for.
I do hope you will use a quality projector, maybe Hella. The larger projectors (90mm) tend to be better than the micro's. I advise sticking with halogen for your high beam, for instant-on full brightness. Good luck, have fun, post pics when you're done.

Not the best pics but I hope it helps. Was raining so I did my best. First was taken about 25 ft. away, flash was on. Second, 25ft. flash off. Third was taken at less than 10 ft.

The factory HID's are actually very good, by any test standards. I have a source that is in the automotive lighting industry that has actually commented that the Durango HID projectors are quite good. This is a divergence for Dodge, as their lights have historically been sub-par.

Ive done a few retro's before, did oem fx35 with tsx projectors in my mazdaspeed6, s2k ap1's in my mazdaspeed6, es300 fogs in my ladies murano fogs, and blazers in my 99 durango fogs.
This is going to for sure be the most difficult retro I have done to date but I am confident. as far as projectors I am using, fx-r 1.0's in the highbeam area, and rx projectors with tsx-r lens in the low beam area.
I believe the BIGGEST issues with the headlights are the permaseal and the headlights actual lack of adjustability. it only goes up and down, there is no horizontal adjustment. my mazdaspeed6 had up/down,left/right for each light so it wasnt tough to align stuff where as I will have to get this aligned same as factory on the first try

bad news... the fx-rs seem to fit in the highbeam spot but the actual headlight is going to need modifying.... the good news is there seems to be tons of space between the headlight and anything else.
Heres a small update on my progress. I have successfully mounted the fx-r in the highbeam spot, and have jb quiked the rx projector in the low beam. Unfortunatly an issue with the rx projector with clear lens is the cutoff gets alittle wavy. I was going to make new sheilds to deal with this but I honestly dont think I am up to the task. I matched the cutoffs as best I could and Im sure its fine the way it is. Heres a few pics I snapped with my iphone. The first is the halogen output, 2nd is the fx-r output (ballast is not fully warmed up), and the 3rd is the projector mounted (still need to figure out the shroud).
