Default HELP! Infant Car Seat

First off, I'm finding that my son's car seat is a super tight fit directly behind my drivers seat. I'm only 5'7 so my seat is not all the way back. My son's carrier (Safety First infant 35) is so snug I have to put my weight into it to click and secure. Tried adjusting the angle of the back row but no luck. Obvious thing is to move him behind the passenger. I don't want to since my daughter's toddler seat is back there.

Second, I have power seats and push start. The most irritating thing I've found about the set up is when the engine is turned off the drivers seat slides all the way back, smashing and trapping my son's carrier in. Only remedy is to double tap the push start to avoid the seat going back, however, the car registers this as 'accessories on' thus the head unit and all else stays on. When loading, I have to start the engine so the seat slides forward.

Any way to disable the option? Not too many "HUGE people" I would think who need the seat to slide back after engine kill. Help! thanks.....

YOu can turn this off, its called Easy entry/exit

search for it in the system settings in the EVIC display (Between the tac and spedo) you can turn it off.

I turned it on for a bit, and the wife didn't like it.

From the manual

Personal Settings allows you to set and recall features when the transmission is in PARK. If the transmission is out of PARK or the vehicle begins moving, a warning message SETUP NOT AVAILABLE, is followed in three seconds by, VEHICLE NOT IN PARK.
Press and release the UP or DOWN button until Setup displays in the EVIC.
Use the UP or DOWN button to display one of the following choices.

Easy Entry/Exit Seat (Available with Memory Seat Only)
This feature provides automatic driver seat positioning to enhance driver mobility when entering and exiting the vehicle. To make your selection, press and release the SELECT button until a check-mark appears next to the feature showing the system has been activated or the check-mark is removed showing the system has been deactivated.
NOTE: The seat will return to the memorized seat location (if Recall Memory with Remote Key Unlock is set to ON) when the RKE transmitter is used to unlock the door. Refer to “Driver Memory Seat” in “Understanding The Features Of Your Vehicle” for further information.

There are some cool things you can change in the EVIC display. It's worth a look if you have not yet done it.

I put my boys carseat behind me, my daughter just uses a booster seat. I tried it the other way around at first, because it was such a tight fit for the car seat. However, I foud it more irritating to have my daughter kick my seat.

Is your car seat in reverse position? I was planing on upgrading suv in the future for the D (with 8 speed). Currently have one 8 month old but 2 more little ones are planned. I though I would have no problems with 3 car seat in the second row... Anyone else?

I currently have a rear facing infant car seat for my 6 mon. old and a forward facing toddler seat for my 3 yr old. with only2 my wife can sit in the middle seat. 3 should work though I've never had to try

with the rearward facing car seat your best bet is to put it in the middle. Then the car seat will be in-between the two front seats and not make you put your driver or passenger seat in a weird position.

You shouldn't have any problem.. I had 3 in the back of my forester (2 rear facing, 1 front) - and thats not as wide as the Durango. Now I have 2 front facing (for my 3 year olds) and 1 booster bottom thingie (for the 7 year old) - he switches between sitting in-between them or in the 3rd row.. depends on how long the ride is going to be.

Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like I'll be ok on the width. Now I'm concern on the length. I'm 5'11 and my wife is not that much shorter. We are going to end up having two reverse child seat. Are we going to have to move our seats forward to accommodate the one on the side?
