Lemon 2011 Crew
You obviously need to learn the definition of what constitutes a lemon in the automotive world. Yours isn't it. The electronics certainly have no correlation so you must be right.

I am not on anyone's bandwagon - just agreeing with Indy. I am not going to get into an argument on this site, just stating my opinion here too. IF I disassembled my vehicle and then had some mechanical issues following that event, I'd offer that I had a cause and effect happening that I perhaps caused. If I provided that information to my dealer when I took it in complaining that there is a problem and my DD is a lemon, they might just say I voided my warranty - maybe not. I'd be a bit nervous though that I voided it.
Being the curious sort that I am, would you mind answering the following:
1) Did the problem exist PRIOR to your front end disassembly/reassembly?
2) Did you reveal to the dealer the exact extent of ALL the work you did prior to taking it to the dealer (to help them better diagnose what the issue is)?
They are going through a lot of expense to help figure this thing out...hopefully they can for you. Good luck.

The lemon law is different from state to state. So you're probably right. In your state my D might not be classified as a lemon but in my state it is.
They do bring up a good point that is worth, at least, considering. With all the electronic controls in the Durango......I would think it is possible for your non-OEM ballasts to create electronic interference or EMI. It may be unrelated, but I would not entirely dismiss it.
Did it really start just after you installed the HID's?

They misspoke. How can they say it is unrelated when they fully admit they don't know the cause? That doesn't mean they are wrong, but they can't possibly be certain that they are correct. It's just something else worth looking at.
Also, were they told, "I added HID lights, no problem right?" or were they told, "I took the whole front end off of my brand new vehicle, then changed the lights, no problem right?"
Not that there's a difference or anything.

it's as simple as "when" they figure out the reason for the condition it'll either be "hey, we found a wire that got pinched when you reassembled the front end, here's the bill" or "we fixed it, all good"... depending on the relationship with your dealer (treating the service guys great and tech) if it comes back to something you did by accident, unknowingly, they may get it covered anyway.. best of luck. that sux!
Obviously the hope is they (the Dealer) doesn't realize the pinched wires were end-user created. After all, who has the front end off a brand new ride? They won't be looking for it in that light.
Doesn't make it right nor does it make the vehicle a lemon.

Man, darkmanrob is still getting blasted about that bumper?!?! Unless the Dodge techs are cavemen along with Napoleon Dynamite as an apprentice trying to figure out the problem, they should easily be able determine fault or rule out the bumper removal and any damage done by the process. In fact you would think they would be quick to pin it on darkmanrob for removing. Instead it sounds like a non-issue from what I'm hearing. They should notice the plastic fasteners for the front don't fit right from the initial removal anyway (unless darkmanrob got more from the dealer).
The regular halogen bulb housings on the new D are almost impossible to install HIDs on without removing the bumper/front end. I have small wrists and had to flex the heck out of them to get my HID kit in the HEAT and almost could't get one side. With the R/T it is IMPOSSIBLE to get to the bulbs without removing, which is why I haven't. Only reason I haven't yet is because I don't have a half a day to plan for issues with removal and I don't want to worry about getting the bumper to try and fit back right. I'm probably going to take it into the shop when I have time (whom by the way can also just as easily screw something up when removing as well). In the end, Napoleon over at Dodge still can't find the issue on darkmanrob's D.
Ease up and let him ask questions and continue to help on the forum like we're all trying to do. Initial points have been obviously made by all and noted, lets move on....
