Default 2011 Durango rustproofing and tow hooks

So, we just got our new baby and are loving the heck out of it. Two questions for the forum however: 1) any suggestions on a type of spray to apply to parts of the undercarriage, in particular, around the wheel wells to keep corrosion off all the brake, suspension, steering, etc., parts to keep her pretty and rust free for a long time? 2) how come I don't have front tow hooks and where can you get some good aftermarket hooks? Thanks.

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-d...s-section.html

you should read that before you make any more posts, this area is referred to as no-mans land (that link above goes to a thread titles "read this BEFORE posting here" and explains everything to you)

and you should have posted this in the 3 gen section, i'll move this there for you this time.

tow hooks are part of the $250 Package 25J skid plate shield

Hey BigBlueDan

I don't have an answer to the rustproofing (I know you can by undercoating in spray cans, but I have not been impressed yet). As for tow hooks, I just bought a pair (basic hooks, 2 bolt mount, keeper straps, 10,000 lb rating )from amazon and plan on building a bracket to attach them to the frame. It will take some metal work, but I hope to end up with results worthy of posting. This route will save some serious $$ over the dealership's price for OEM hooks (about $100.00 per side).

Thanks for the note. Please do post some pics of the tow hooks when finished. I'm still astonished at the price Mopar wants to charge. Would be interested in seeing some "alternatives". Thanks again.

Aren't front tow hooks only good when your the one who is stuck?

Not recommended to tow someone out in reverse. Bad for the transmission.

Any rustproofing you do now is a scam -- including what the dealer sometimes likes to charge you for. The metal on cars now is all pre-dipped, and the lengthy corrosion warranty guarantees it. You'll be hard pressed to find any car that's less than 10-15 years old with any rust at all. Save your money!

Wow, I sure don't agree with that. I live in upstate New York and the Salt on the roads are bad on vehicles in the winter.

Try Colorado. One winter and your are driving a rust bucket by summer.
