The same place they're sourcing them from now, Germany... wow that was a hard one to answer. Believe your sources and I'll believe mine.

The Grand Cherokee will not get the 8 speed till 2014...except for the CRD...which will get the 8 speed mid 2013(in 2014 guise). Germany cant produce to keep up with production of the Grand Cherokee. The Grand Cherokee/Durango 8 speed will be built here in the US.

 

As the article said: the 8 speed will be available on the V6 in 2013. It's possible from what I read that it might be 2014 until the 8 speed has enough production to be mated to the V8 as well.

it wont be on the 2013's...the article is wrong and is going by the bankruptcy papers filed by ChryCo. Those papers are outdated now. The 2014's will get the new dash architecture with 2nd gen 8.4 touchscreen, refresh in appearance, CRD and the new 8 speed.

 

Where are you getting anything coming from bankruptcy papers? My source isn't a message board hero and the article I cited was from only a month and 1/2 ago?

2013's will be open for ordering on 6/6....ask anyone if the 8 speed can be ordered on the GrandCherokee/durango....

 

I never stated that article was my source I just found that a few weeks ago and posted it if no one had seen it. My personal source told me late 2012 and no later than spring 2013 models. Yeah so no message board hero as my source.

 

Chrysler's Kokomo Transmission Plant (KTP) and Indiana Transmission Plant (ITP-1) in INDIANA will be the likely source.

Nothing will be coming out of Germany or Europe.

I believe we are already making the cases here at Kokomo casting. We have several machines being rebuilt to make the internal parts.
