Default 730N poor Sat radio sound.

Does anyone else with the 730N notice a poor sound quality (slightly garbled mids and highs and a drone in the bass) when listening to the satellite radio? It sounds great when using a CD or from the HDD, even FM is better than the Sat on my system.

Default Poor Stereo Sound

See POST on Pg 2 Poor Alpine Sound Quality. I have many people look at mine and they best chance is to replace door speakers. I prefer Infinity or JBL.

It's a digital noise sound in the mid/highs and a flat drone in the bass as if I'm listening to music at about a 128 bit rate or less and it's ONLY on the sat radio. I know the overall sound quality isn't that great, but this is a distinct sound. It's kind of like the sat receiver isn't processing the signal completely.

That is Satellite Radio for you.
They (Serius XM) used to brag about the superior sound quality for the on-line streaming at 190k. So this means that satellite audio is less then that. I wish they would dump some channels in exchange for better quality. They even have more channels on-line then what is available from the satellite because of bandwidth.

Those are cheap options

The best speaker on the market right now for a stock upgrade would be the Focal Integration series.
These are made for replacemant type speakers to a stock system.
Well worth the money for them

I am converting my 2000 Durango over to double din indash nav right now. When done changing out the system in the 2011 R/T to all Arc Audio once I can get them shipped into us. The new Arc Audio are amazing

Ok, well I guess I'll just have to fill up the hdd and probably cancel the sat.

Double D Mods,
I'd really like to see how that double din looks, I'm looking at doing this to my 2001. But, I can't stand the way any of the after market kits look with those cheap plastic surrounds.

I will post pics when done
I am putting in a temp dash till the good one comes back.
I am sending it off for burlwood hydrocarbon to match the woodgrain interior so it looks 100% stock
