Brake Controller
I have a '11 Crew with a dealer installed factory hitch (with 4-pin and 7-pin), not the factory Tow Package. In attempting to install a Tekonsha brake controller with the Durango-specific adapter/plug, I am unable to find the plug under the dash on the Durango. Does that plug only exist with the Tow Package? Any tips or photos out there?
I don't have a direct answer for you , but I just picked up a 2012 with tow package and included was the electric brake kit (68089300AB Rev:A). Plastic bag with connector and wires for an electric break.
The part that may help you is the printed instructions, which say" The mating gray connector is located under the instrument panel left of the steering column, taped back.
Circuit Function:
Ground circuit- black wire
Stop Lamp Signal Feed - White wire with violet trace
+12 Volt (30 Amp max) Battery feed - Gray wire with red trace
Electric break feed - Dark green wire

Just bought a 2012 Ram 1500 Quad Cab without the tow package and it has a grey connector with the following wires: dark green, white with violet trace, yellow, and dark green with black trace. The dealer says there should be 2 grey connectors for the factory controller to work, but had no clue about an aftermarket prodigy controller.

I bought a special wiring adapter from Tekonsha that plugs in directly between the harness on the Durango and the back of my Prodigy. No mess, no splicing wires, easy as pie. And I believe it was only $15-$20. Here's the part (http://www.tekonsha.com/content/products.aspx?lvl=3&parentid=1400&catID=1445&part= 3045-P) and it specifically states it's for Durango's with the Factory Tow Package.
Not sure if that is more helpful or more confusing.

I have the Tekonsha kit/wiring harness you referenced. Since I don't have the factory tow package, only a dealer installed hitch, I'm pretty sure I don't have the connector plug that I expected. I may hard-wire it or, more likely, have the dealer install the plug and use it the way I originally intended.

I just did the same install on my 2012 1500 that only had one plug. You have to make the other one and splice it into the factory harness. There may be some issues with software upgrades if your truck has the EVIC display on the dash between the tach and speedometer, but mine doesn't.
I have the file with step-by-step instructions if you need it. It's pretty simple and uses about $10 worth of parts from radio shack. I'd post it here if I knew how, but I can email it to you if you want.

I bought the Tekonsha Primus IQ kit/wiring harness and had a Mopar wiring harness installed by the dealer; both for the 2011 Durango. I searched both in the area of the emergency brake as well as steering column (as referenced in other replys) and don't see anything resembling the plug. Can anyone direct me to a video or picture showing the location of this plug? Thanks for any help !
