If you want to go from a Hemi to a V6 then your going to be disappointed. You don't save really anything with the V6 and even with the tow package I wouldn't tow more then 3k pounds with a V6 regardless of what the factory says.
no, i dont (need to tow) i have a 2004 hemi ram, this will be my wifes vehicle. but i know on the rams the old v6 was actually worse on gas. But ive heard alot of good bout the new pentastar 6. (is thats wats in the durangos?) and i have a 20' center console boat. and it would be good to know i can move it if need be. The durango reviews look good online, but the best reviews come from the people that own em. thanks again guys
Yeah they have the pentastar, and if you get the tow package then it will be able to move it but I wouldn't recommend using is as a primary tow vehicle. Also if it's for your wife then I guess the V6 will be fine. Just remember that if you have a small motor trying to push something large vs a large motor trying to push something large, well you know what's better. But that's my opinion.
The Citadel is my wife's. Has the Pentastar. She loves it. I get to drive it on weekends...sometimes. Definitely has some get-up but I have never towed anything, ever. Plenty of power for getting around town with the kiddies. It's a great vehicle.
I would not hesitate pulling a boat with the v6. 235 hp is very adequate and 5 more mpg all the rest of the time you are not towing.

no, it's more like 5. I work with a guy that has an awd RT and he is only getting 12.5-13.5 around town. babying it. my wife gets a consistent 17.6-17.8
Hemi is great if you have money to burn, but i can tell you from owning my V6 and now having one for work (same but no nav or moonroof) the v6 is plenty fine. even with this antiquated 5 speed trans. when they put an 8or 9 speed in here the hemi will probably be dropped. that how good the new pentastar is. and they haven't even gone down the road of direct injection yet. probably another 30+hp and 2mpg from that alone.
another example of how the hemi vs v6 is pretty minimal is this. i owned a 2004 envoy V6, in '06 i bought a trailblazer SS. Now THAT was a huge difference. you don't have that here. it's quicker but not enough to warrant even looking at (for us). if it was that big a difference, i would've thought about it (glad i didn't have to lol). i have access to numerous pickups, vans etc. i have no need or want to get 13mpg lol

And your comparing the AWD, i have a RWD R/T and get a constant 15.7-16.5 city.
Took about an hour ride on the highway yesterday doing 80mph on cruise control and got 22mpg so not its not 5mpg more (unless you have the AWD then maybe it is)
