Axle ratio - 3.45 vs 3.09
not true at all OD is just a lower gear ratio than drive (lower in the sense that it makes the engine spin lower and the driveshaft/wheels spin faster.
what you are referring to is torque converter lockup, and it will happen in lower gears under the right conditions (no it doesnt happen often)

This is an old thread, but is there a 3:45 pumpkin available for the V8 Durango? If I could swap mine out, I could bring this 5/6 speed into more usable territory. Don't want to change to a 2014 just for the 8 speed as I love everything else more on my '13 (shifter, front end, storage, buttons for access etc.)
My second gear, 1.67 is equal to the new 8 speed 4th gear!
My first at 3:00 is nearly same as 8 speed 2nd gear 3.14

3.45's not enough either, they all needed the 3.92 option available for towing, like the trucks have, and it should have been standard on the RT's IMO. The trucks with that option run great, especially the one with the 8spd I test drove.
