Default electrical problems

I am new to this site and we just bought the 2011 Durango V8 with the tow package it was used only 500 miles on it and the next morning the radio stopped working. I took it to a dodge dealership and was told I had an aftermarket sunroof and that's why the radio isn't working. I have been on the phone everyday with Corp. Dodge and now have another appt. with another dealership to see if they can fix the problem I told them I want a new radio and that I was not happy with Dodge right now. I never owned a Dodge before and I love the truck everything about it the looks the way it drives and the fact that we found a V8 with a tow package to tow our boat was a big plus. To have a problem in less then 24 hours is rally making me not like the truck and I don't want to wait the 30 days like Dodge it trying to get me to do so I can't return it to be stuck with a truck that has no radio or sunroof in working order. Is it true that the wiring can mess up the push button also? Please help any suggestions on what to do

Aftermarket sunroof ???? I assume you bought new?

There have been reports of radios that stopped working due to a loose connector.

Default Yes we bought it used but the sunroof was not an after market sunroof

We found today that the window lock was on and that doesn't allow the sunroof to work, You would think that the dealership would know this and the radio worked today for a little while but shut off again and has not come back on. I have heard that they do have wiring problems now that I have been doing more research on this. I only wish I knew that before we bought our truck. I know it was used with only 500 miles on it but the car-fax report came back clean and we were told the husband didn't want the truck. I hope that they didn't have this problem also.

Sounds like there is a great deal to be had on a 500 mile 3rd owner used Gen3 soon.

Yes, the sunroof is an aftermarket, I found out from the dealership that the truck came from the start that they are the ones that put the sunroof in and yes they are the only ones I can go to if there is ever a problem with it. I have to say Dodge came through and replaced my radio and I am very happy with the dealership I was sent to. They really took the time out and fixed the problem and were very helpful.

Staudt,

Glad to hear the other dealership was able to resolve your issue. Any Chrysler dealer should be able to perform needed repairs on your vehicle be it under warranty, service contract, or having no remaining coverage. If anyone cannot get the dealer to resolve their issue a call directly to the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center should be made to let them help get the issue resolved. Phone numbers below.

Thank you Chris I have called Dodge Customer service I have a case with them cause I could not find a dealer to help. Funny now that I did that all the history that was on my truck is now gone and no history is found as per Dodge Corp. they only see that I called on 1/4/12 no other info so glad I printed everything when I first saw it or I would have never found out any information that I came across. We are very happy right now with the truck and even happier that the radio is working awesome :-)
