Default Tail lights need replaced

I just bought a new 2012 Blue R/T. It is without a doubt the best looking SUV on the road from the front. It's a different story from the back though. With the exception of the dual exhaust which looks great, the back is very ordinary. The tail lights really suck. When do you think there will be some aftermarket tail lights available to improve the rear looks. Smoked looks good, but I'm better at buying and replacing than modifying.

I agree the rear looks bland. So I did this to try and change it up.

Looks great. I may end up doing that if the aftermarket people don't come through. These tail lights look to much like some mini van's lights. Something like the GMC Acadia tail light would be much better looking.

Responded to your email already but did it myself in garage. I used tinting spray.

That's extremely unfortunate. I don't trust myself to do this. I always find someway to make the easiest task time consuming and incorrect.

On the other hand I may go the smoked route with tint, kind of scary that this is a permanent mod with the spray.

Just take your time and it will be fine. You can remove the spray tint with mineral spirits. Also, if for some reason you miss a spot when taping it off. Rubbing compound will remove spray from vehicle paint. Personally, I wont tint over my reverse lights again as its hard enough backing up in the dark with tint.

I didn't realize you apply to the outside. I would worry of it wearing off. Can't one achieve a similar darker look by applying to the inside?

You guys should do it late in the afternoon and take pics of both cars next to each other with the brake lights on so we can compare before and after. I like the idea of doing it, but I don't want the red lights to be too dim.
