Question I think I'm going to do it...

buy a Durango, that is.

need more capability than our 09 Highlander has. The dealers are really marking down left over 2011's. What I am considering is a 2011 Citadel AWD, hemi, tow, skid plates. The best price I have found is $39,500 plus TTL. How's that compare.

I have a few questions after reading 17 pages of posts on this board.

1. what is the story on the different nav systems?
2. What the deal on the wheels? chrome covers? huh?
3. I dont plan to go off road but do pull a 25' boat on occassion and was considering slime covered boat ramps. Do I really need the AWD?
4. Has the leaking fluids and wheel shake horror stories I read about been corrected by Dodge or am I at risk?
5. Is all Citadel interior the 2 tone tan and black or is solid black an option.

thanks

1) Plenty of threads on that. I was glad I found ours with the 430 garmin
2) Yes
3) I was worried too about not getting AWD and just hoped that traction control would be enough. I tow 23' 5000 lb boat/trailer combo and so far even at low tide with the rear tires wet, it has pulled our boat out just fine without any wheel slippage.
4) No problems with ours. Let us know how yours turns out.
5) We have a solid single color black interior. Or maybe it's really dark gray?

Regarding price quote, goto truecar.com. I got our '11 Citadel last month, Hemi, RWD, Tow, DVD, for 38.4k. Basically dealer cost according to truecar.

cool, thanks. looks like my price is $200 over true dealer cost if there was any hold back left which is doubtful on a 2011. they're probably just glad to get rid of a 2011 since the 12's are already on the lots.

Obviously you like the car. Stop worrying about all that other stuff. It's a great car and you'll enjoy it. Can things go wrong? Sure, but that's true of any car. Just do it and let us know how much you enjoy it.

I don’t think you’re going wrong with the Citadel. I’ve been happy with mine.
As to your questions:
1. I’ve got the 730N; I’m not too clear on all the differences. Slight difference in HD storage, Garmin nav in the 430…
2. The chrome plastic covers are becoming the norm Ford/Lincoln (Edge/MKX), GM (Acadia Denali)… Their easier to clean and polish with normal auto cleaner and wax. Also way cheaper/easier to replace if they get damaged while still getting all the benefits of an alloy wheel.
3. It pulls my boat like it’s not even there (around 4500lbs) But I think AWD is a must for the added assurance on unkempt ramps.
4. I haven’t had any leaks, shaking or any other issues. But, as with any vehicle a thorough inspection and test drive should be done before signing any final docs.
5. I ordered my ’11 Citadel with a solid black interior and love it.

Good luck on your purchase and welcome.
